Dear friends, it’s my pleasure to write the second part of the message on the need to guard against things that might emanate from us or around us to work against us even though God is with us.
Rom. 8:31 says ” What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
In the first part of the message, we saw that YOUR APPETITE can work against you if you don’t have self control over what you eat and drink. In this second part we shall look at:
YOUR ASSOCIATIONS:
No man is an island in the affairs of life. Everybody craves for company in one form or the other. It is incontrovertibly true that a man’s friends or company can influence him positively or negatively. When you choose to associate with the right people, your life will take the right course. If you choose to associate with the riff-raffs and all manner negative people, your life will also become negatively affected.
There are people who never knew anything about smoking, alcoholism, womanizing, examination malpractice, drug abuse, lesbianism, masturbation, armed robbery etc until they met certain friends who introduced them to these social vices.
The bible affirms in I Cor. 15:33 “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners”. It is difficult to be associating with evil and corrupt people without learning their ways. They would definitely want to teach you their ways and their evil style.
The bible says in Proverbs 13:20-21 “Spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of fools will suffer.Trouble always comes to sinners, but good people enjoy success”.
If you desire to be wise and excellent, you must identify and associate with wise and excellent people. If you choose otherwise, then you are looking for trouble. The saying is true “Show me your friends and I will show you who you are”.
During the yuletide period, there is always pressure to make new friends and visit new places. You must be careful of who you admit into your life as an intimate friend to avoid regrets in life. You are not under any obligation to be a close friend to everyone that comes your way including people with questionable character. You must choose your friends wisely and prayerfully
A stitch in time saves nine!
If God be for you, don’t let your CHOICE OF ASSOCIATION be against you!
