Urban Economics is the study of the allocation of scarce resources, and as all economic phenomena take place within a geographical space, urban economics focuses on the allocation of resources across space in relation to urban areas. Other branches of economics ignore the spatial aspects of decision making but urban economics focuses not only on the location decisions of firms, but also of cities themselves as cities themselves represent centers of economic activity. Urban economics is rooted in the location theories of von Thünen that began the process of spatial economic analysis
Social science: these are the aspect of academic discipline that deals the society and the relationship between then.they include; sociology, anthropology, geography, economics, religion etc. but I want to use Geography as a case study.
Geographers attempt to understand the Earth in terms of physical and spatial relationships. The first geographers focused on the science of mapmaking and finding ways to precisely project the surface of the earth. In this sense, geography bridges some gaps between the natural sciences and social sciences. Historical geographyis often taught in a college in a unified Department of Geography.Geography as a discipline can be split broadly into two main sub fields: human geography and physical geography. The former focuses largely on the built environment and how space is created, viewed and managed by humans as well as the influence humans have on the space they occupy. This may involve cultural geography, transportation, health, military operations, and cities. The latter examines the natural environment and how the climate, vegetation and life, soil, oceans, water and landforms are produced and interact. Physical geography examines phenomena related to the measurement of earth. As a result of the two subfields using different approaches a third field has emerged, which is environmental geography. Environmental geography combines physical and human geography

The basic reasons of urban economic growth are as follows:
First and foremost I have to start with the definition of economic growth before proceeding to the reasons and characteristics of urban economic growth.
Economic growth is defined as an increase in the capacity of an economy to produce goods and services, compared from one period of time to another. It can be measured in nominal or real terms, the latter of which is adjusted for inflation.
Traditionally, aggregate economic growth is measured in terms of Gross National Product (GNP), although alternative metrics are sometime used. In the simplest term it is referred to as an increase in aggregate productivity.
The basic reasons of urban economic growth are as follows:
1. Higher per capital income: This is one of the basic reasons for urban economic growth because when income per capital is higher it encourages many developers for rapid construction of new houses. Rapid development of housing and other urban infrastructure often produces a variety of discontinuous uncorrelated developments.
2. Increase in number of working persons: This is because when there is increase in the number of working population or persons it will lead to growth in economy of part or nation because the worker gets money in how he will invest the on some economic activities that will about growth of economy.
3. Industrialization: The establishment increase of new industries in country side increases impervious surfaces rapidly. This is because industry requires providing housing facilities to its workers in a large area that generally becomes larger then industry itself. The transition process from agricultural to industrial employment demands more urban housing.
4. Credit and capital market: Credit and loan facility, low interest rate, etc are also responsible for rapid urban growth in advance. In this sense, people can buy homes before achieving the financial capability. Therefore, the growth will occur in advance then actually supposed to be.
5. Housing investment: Purchasing of second homes in the country side as future investments. The homes often left vacant but the government is force to maintain urban facilities and services in a low-density area. Low interest rate and high housing demand make the country side-housing investment more attractive.
6. High level of competitive enterprises: As there is competition(s) among enterprises all the owners of the businesses will be trying to invest more in his/her business to ensure continuity of the business and this will lead to the an increase in urban economic growth.
7. Technology: The level of technology in an area (urban) determines how the particular place will grow economically and otherwise. When the level of technology is high it will lead to increase in the urban economic growth and vice versa.
Characteristics of urban economic growth
1. Economic growth results in the shift in demand and there to the reallocation of resources-land, labour and capital out agriculture into manufacturing and services.
2. There is already availability of inputs like skilled labour repair services, etc. from which profit is earned by producer.
3. There is increase in the standard of living of the people.
4. Dense population; this means that since there is economic growth in such area, the attention of the people will be drawn and it bring about rapid increase in the population of the residence.
5. There is efficiency in production, this means efficiency in production process because of the availability of infrastructure materials and industries.
6. It brings about employment opportunities as a result of industries and other employable organizations. To mention but a few.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN URBAN ECONOMICS AND OTHER SOCIAL SCIENCE
Urban economics is the economic study of urban areas; comprising the use tools of economics to analyze urban issues such as crime, education, public transit, housing, and local government finance, there is still the need to embrace the study of social environment in order to effective harness and manage these urban resources well for mans’ maximum utilization. Social science is a major category of academic disciplines, concerned with society and the relationships among individuals within a society. It in turn has many branches, each of which is considered a "social science". The social sciences include economics, political science, human geography, demography, psychology, sociology, anthropology, archaeology, jurisprudence, history, and linguistics. The term is also sometimes used to refer specifically to the field of sociology, the original 'science of society', established in the 19th century.they are related in the sense that urban economics and other social sciences all have in common the aim of studying the society, although urban economics studies a subset of the society which is the urban settlements.

SIGNIFICANT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN URBAN ECONOMICS AND OTHER SOCIAL SCIENCES
Urban economics is broadly the economic study of urban areas; as such, it involves using the tools of economics to analyze urban issues such as crime, education, public transit, housing, and local government finance. More narrowly, it is a branch of microeconomics that studies urban spatial structure and the location of households and firms. Social sciences in other hand are academic disciplines that examine society and how people interact and develop as a culture. With the above assertion one can see that urban Economics and social science explanation are moving in the same direction or discuss almost the same thing. Again urban economics is a sub-subject of social sciences.

Urban economics is a sub-field of economics that refers to the economic analysis of cities, and touches on a broad range of topics, such as housing, transportation, land use, the cost and benefit of cities and urbanization, or the provision of local public goods like education. In recent times, Promising efforts are now being made to establish the position of a social planner as a full-status member of physical development teams along with the architect, economist, engineer and geographer. In everyday practice, experts are becoming increasingly aware and accepting more readily that the several types of space—such as perceptual, social, economic and physical are indeed interdependent, and that successful urban planning requires that all of them be concertedly taken into account. Although a distinct planning specialization with its o w n methodology, framework and vocabulary now appears to evolve around' various approaches to development (such as social, economic, technological, political or spatial), there is an increasing awareness among practitioners that in planning urban growth these approaches to development Most physical planners in the recent past had to be convinced that a limited specialization viewpoint no longer sufficed to meet the challenge to create an urban environment appropriate for human and social development and that a social scientist could prove an effective, realistic and full status team member

Urban economics is that breach of economics that looks at the spatial relationship between individuals and organisation, in this view in trying to interrelate Urban economic and other social sciences. Economic is a social science that studies human behaviour and how to maximize scarce resources, political science is a social science that studies human, how they behave in the political aspect of an economy and how the ruler make policy on those they govern in the economy. Psychology in the other hand is a social science that studies human behaviour, that is their emotional mind and physical processes. Sociology is also a social science that deals with the science of the society and the interaction of human beings. Geography is equally a social science that studies the geographical structure and the climate condition of the north surface in which human in habit. Looking at all these points highlighted you can see that both urban economics and other social sciences are not far from each other, this is because the society at large are characterized by human inhabitant that revolves around the space of the earth. In which every breach are connected to each other, that is every part can not do without the other in achieving their aims and objectives with the global world.
QUESTION: ARE THERE SIGNIFICANT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN URBAN ECONOMICS AND OTHER SOCIAL SCIENCES?
ANSWER:
Urban economics can be defined as the study of economic activity and economic growths in cities. It uses analytical models to understand what makes cities thrive in decline, how housing values are formed. Social sciences are academic disciplines that examine society and how people interact and develop as a culture. Considering the explanation, we will find out that both of them are discussing the same issue. Therefore, the above explanation tells us that urban economics and social science are related to each other. We examine geography as an example of social science to compare it with urban Economics, geography is the study of countries, mountain, cities, the geography of a building, city, the way all the parts are arranged, then urban Economics the study of economics activity and economic growths in cities, both of hem involves economic activity for economic growth. If we take other social sciences one by one, they are related to urban Economics just as geography. We therefore, conclude that urban economics is related to social sciences.

A Comparison of Social Capital in Rural and Urban Settings
Introduction
A rapidly expanding literature exists on social capital and its importance to rural and urban communities. Social capital refers to the "…stocks of social trust, norms and networks that people can draw upon in order to solve common problems" (Siranni and Friedland). These networks involve activities of "civic engagement" such as neighborhood associations, service and charitable clubs, volunteerism and the like. In both rural and urban communities, social capital refers to the institutions and mechanisms whereby residents relate to and interact with each other to solve problems for the common good.
This paper examines some of the ways in which social capital networks develop and operate and contrasts the differences between rural and urban settings based on "case study observations" of rural communities and urban subdivisions. A list of potential researchable questions involving social capital is developed and some ideas are proposed for empirically analyzing these questions and issues.
It is widely believed that in neighborhoods where social capital is strong–and, in this instance, those in both rural and urban communities where social networks exist comprising the fabric of social capital–have a very desirable quality of life and have great economic growth potential. In communities where social capital is accumulating, local residents increasingly work with each other to identify problems, share ideas and identify solutions to problems which benefit the entire community. These kinds of activities are essential if communities are to develop comprehensive plans for encouraging economic development. The evaluation of the local community as being either a desirable or undesirable place for employees to live may be an important factor for businesses seeking sites for new facilities.
Sociologists, Economists and Social Capital
Sociologists and economists have taken decidedly different approaches in analyzing social capital issues. Sociologists see social capital from the perspective of how people relate to and form networks with or otherwise interact with each other. In contrast, much of the economic literature has focused on describing social capital by employing series of mathematical equations describing how one person's utility may be influenced by the by the behavior of others The very core of economics is the belief that individuals, acting in their own selfish interest, will, by their selfish actions achieve that which is best for all. The profit motive and utility maximization are inherently "I" oriented. Not surprisingly, then, many economists become uncomfortable when altruistic questions involving "we" rather than "I" are raised. Altruism (that is, the utility of individual i influencing the utility of individual j) is inherent in the concept of social capital. Lynne's discussion of "I" versus "we" provides an excellent overview if this dilemma. An excellent starting point for understanding the sociologists' perspective on social capital can be found by reading the two cited articles by Flora and Flora. In contrast, the economic perspective on social capital is outlined in articles by Robison and Hanson and by Schmid and Robison.

Urban economic is the study of the spatial structure of the economics regional location and their function on the significance of this dimension. We try to interrelate it to other social sciences discipline on like economic as a discipline which is a social science that studies human “behaviour” as a relationship between end and scarce means which have alternative use. Political Science: that studies how human being behave in the political affair of the country which is been govern by human, the subjects that are being governed are also human, in seeking to find answers to the economic fault of governance and power.
Geography as a branch of social science that studies the climatic changes and the atmosphere of a geographical area in which is being inhabited by human. In linking it to urban economic it tries to look at the population and the variation of climate and every geographical region and how they generate their natural resources.
Sociology is the study of how this human “behaviour” behaves in interaction with the other social being, in coining sociology with urban regional economics. It brings about how the humans analysis, the human activities and bringing about the solution to its problems and to the global world.

There are other social sciences like political science , sociology, geography ,and psychology assist in decision making and policies of man. Political science is the branch of social science that deals with the state and system of government, the scientific analysis of political activity and behaviour .It is also a phenomenon of the state that controls the economy as a whole. Economics is a social science which deals with human wants and their satisfaction. It is related to other social sciences like sociology, politics, history, ethics, jurisprudence and psychology. For example, the economic development of a nation depends not only on economic factors but also on historical, political and sociological factors. Our country did not have much of economic progress during the British rule owing to historical reasons. Again, we had slow but steady economic growth in our country because of political instability. But in many other countries, there was no steady growth because of political instability. If there is one government today and another government tomorrow, there will not be economic development in that country.
Urban economics is broadly the economic study of urban areas; as such, it involves using the tools of economics to analyze urban issues such as crime, education, public transit, housing, and local government finance. More narrowly, it is a branch of microeconomics that studies urban spatial structure and the location of households and firms.
Sociology on the other hand is the scientific study of the society. The society consists of man and his environment, cultural activities. Urban areas are characterized by infrastructural development such as road, electricity, water, school. It is therefore pertinent to say that sociology encompasses urban areas since people move from rural to urban society. Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental process of man. Geography as a social science study the wide spread of man's environment and the spatial relationship between societies. Geography uses geographical information system to access the spatial statistical measures which account for distribution of space in urban areas. All social sciences has it relationship as they all focus on man's existence and profer solution to man's economic, sociological, political, psychological and geographical problems.

The meaning of development for an individual, is that which tends towards a person realizing his or her full potential as a human being. It is the striving toward what the individual perceives as an 'ideal state'. The seeking of perfection is the essence of evolution; it is a universal trait of all living things.
OTraditional economic vs political economic
Traditional economy is an original economic system in which traditions, customs, and beliefs help shape the goods and the services the economy produces, as well as the rules and manner of their distribution. Countries that use this type of economic system are often rural and farm-based. Also known as a subsistence economy, a traditional economy is defined by bartering[citation needed][dubious ] and trading. Little surplus is produced[citation needed], and if any excess goods are made, they are typically given to a ruling authority or landowner.
A pure traditional economy has had no changes in how it operates (there are few of these today). Examples of traditional economies include those of the Inuit or those of the tea plantations in South India.[1] Traditional economies are popularly conceived of as "primitive" or "undeveloped" economic systems, having tools or techniques seen as outdated.[2] As with the notion of contemporary primitiveness and with modernity itself, the view that traditional economies are backwards is not shared by scholars in economics and anthropology. One example of a traditional or custom based economy is Haiti.
Traditional economies may be based on custom and tradition,[3] with economic decisions based on customs or beliefs of the community, family, clan, or tribe.
Political economy
Not to be confused with Economic policy.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Discours sur l'oeconomie politique, 1758
Political economy is a term used for studying production and trade, and their relations with law, custom, and government, as well as with the distribution of national income and wealth. Political economy originated in moral philosophy. It was developed in the 18th century as the study of the economies of states, or polities, hence the term political economy.
In the late 19th century, the term economics came to replace political economy, coinciding with the publication of an influential textbook by Alfred Marshall in 1890.[1] Earlier, William Stanley Jevons, a proponent of mathematical methods applied to the subject, advocated economics for brevity and with the hope of the term becoming "the recognised name of a science."[2][3]
Today, political economy, where it is not used as a synonym for economics, may refer to very different things, including Marxian analysis, applied public choice approaches emanating from the Chicago school and the Virginia school, or simply the advice given by economists to the government or public on general economic policy or on specific proposals.[3] A rapidly growing mainstream literature from the 1970s has expanded beyond the model of economic policy in which planners maximize utility of a representative individual toward examining how political forces affect the choice of economic policies, especially as to distributional conflicts and political institutions.[4] It is available as an area of study in certain colleges and universities.

It is quite obvious that there is a level of significance between urban economics and social sciences
Urban economics is the economic study of cities and urban areas based on the consideration of space, transportation cost, and location in production and consumption decisions. Urban economics studies a wide variety of topics, how and why cities are formed, how land is used within cities, the location of one city relative to another, and the relative size of cities.

Their is a significant l level of relationship when it comes to urban economics and other social sciences are. The following are some reasons.
Social science can be seen as the study of human society and of individual relationships in and to society, or any of various academic or scientific disciplines relating to such study, generally regarded as including sociology, psychology, anthropology, economics, political science, and history.
Urban economics deals with the arrangements of households, firms, and capital in metropolitan areas; the other factors which arise from the proximity of households and land uses; and the public policy issues which arise from the interplay of these economic forces.
When we look at the above definitions of both terms, we will see that they both deal with the relationship of humans with their environment. The economics environment of man is taken care of by urban economics while other social science deals with the physical and social environment of man.
Ozoaniako Loveth. O.
2014/sd/33787
The level of relationship between urban economics and other social sciences are limitless because Urban economics emphasizes: the spatial arrangements of households, firms, and capital in metropolitan areas; the externalities which arise from the proximity of households and land uses; and the public policy issues which arise from the interplay of these economic forces, while the social sciences are the fields of academic scholarship which explore aspects of human society. Social sciences may draw upon empirical methods and attempt to emulate the standards of conventional scientific practice. By contrast, other social scientists employ critical analysis or hermeneutic methods to study objects of enquiry they regard as inconsistent with the scientific approach.

It can also define as the branch of science that deals with the institutions and with the interpersonal relations of individuals as members of society.
Microeconomics is a branch of economics that studies the behaviour of individuals and firms in making decisions regarding the allocation of scarce resources and the interactions among these individuals and firms.
Economics according to Lionel Robbins is defined as a science which studies human behaviour as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternative uses. It is also defined as the study of the economy, the coordination process, the effects of scarcity, the science of choice, human behaviour, human beings as to how they coordinate wants and desires, given the decision-making mechanisms, social customs, and political realities of society.
Therefore, I strongly agree that there is significant relationship between the urban economics and other social sciences because as urban economics is a branch of micro-economic and a subfield of economics while economics itself is a science that studies human behaviour and its relation is a branch of social science and both the urban economics, economics and social science focused all their attentions on the study of human behaviour and the society. That is, their major aims or goal is the study of human behaviour and the society.

CLEAR DISCUSS THE BASIC REASONS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF URBAN ECONOMIC GROWTH
The basic reasons of urban economic growth are as follows:
First and foremost I have to start with the definition of economic growth before proceeding to the reasons and characteristics of urban economic growth.
Economic growth is defined as an increase in the capacity of an economy to produce goods and services, compared from one period of time to another. It can be measured in nominal or real terms, the latter of which is adjusted for inflation.

The relationship between urban economics and other social science are:
Urban economics as a field of study in which we use analytical tools economics to explain the spatial and economies organization of cities and metro political area and to deal with their problems.
There are other social sciences like political science, sociology, geography, economics, etc that assist decision making and policy development of man. Political science is the breach of knowledge that deals with the state and system of government, the scientific analysis of political activities and behavior. It also the phenomenon of the state uses government to control the economics as a whole.
Sociology as a social science that study of society. Sociology consist of man his environment, use of regional and perhaps cultural that may influence the patterns and place of change in an given area. Geography as a social science that helps man to get information and access geographical or spatial statistic measured allows us to give better account for a distribution of change space and in urban area. With aid of geographical information system .history as a social science helps us in knowing the history of what happened and what is happening in the past and present world, and with the help of history we can be able to tell the story of what happened even when we not born, and we will relate it to what is happening now .even the year that a particular event happened and so. Both urban economics and other social science has its relationship as they all focus on man’s existence and prefers for man’s economics problem
Economics as a social science studies human behavior with relation to ends and scarce means which have alternative uses. Psychology studies mind of an individual and sociology studies the society which is made up of man and geography as well studies the description of the earth. urban economics is broadly economics study of urban area as a branch it involve using tool of economics to analyze urban issues such as crime, education ,public, transit housing, and local government finance more narrowing. Social and urban infrastructure is the subset of the infrastrue sector and plays a significant role in generating revenue for the economy.
A social science study the wide spread of man's environment and spatial relationship between societies. Geography uses geographical information system to access the spatial statistical measures which account for the distribution of space in urban areas.

Definitions- Urban economics is a sub-field of economics that refers to the economic analysis of cities, and touches on a broad range of topics, such as housing, transportation, land use, the cost and benefit of cities and urbanization, or the provision of local public goods like education.

ASSIGNMENT 1
Urban economics is broadly the economic study of urban areas; as such, it involves using the tools of economics to analyze urban issues such as crime, education, public transit, housing, and local government finance. More narrowly, it is a branch of microeconomics that studies urban spatial structure and the location of households and firms (Quigley 2008.).The study of mobility has become an object of interest for social sciences, particularly following the invention and diffusion of motorized means of transport, from the second half of the nineteenth century. Despite societies always having been mobile, suffice to think of migration, mechanical transport changed the way that the population moved and lived, generating hitherto unknown levels of mobility. The diffusion of private mechanical means of transport gave mobility an ordinary connotation lacking in eras when travel was associated with the extraordinary aspect of migration or the drama of exile. The car turned mobility into a private daily activity, expanding the range of places that could be reached quickly and enabling working, consuming, purchasing and social relations in increasingly more distant, diverse contexts from the habitual ones.

Urban economics is a sub-field of economics that refers to the economic analysis of cities, and touches on a broad range of topics, such as housing, transportation, land use, the cost and benefit of cities and urbanization, or the provision of local public goods like education. According to the economic literature, the spatial concentration of activities generates a set of external effects. Agglomerating of persons and activities in a place not only causes an expansion of the market size, but also makes productivity gains. This relationship between space and economic activity is characterized by the urban phenomenon because cities are the cornerstones of space and play a crucial role in the development of a region. The concentration of activities in a given location generates a set of positive externalities.
Environmental geography combines physical and human geography and looks at the interactions between the environment and humans. Other branches of geography include social geography, regional geography, and geomatics.
Urban Economics is the study of the allocation of scarce resources, and as all economic phenomena take place within a geographical space, urban economics focuses on the allocation of resources across space in relation to urban areas. Other branches of economics ignore the spatial aspects of decision making but urban economics focuses not only on the location decisions of firms, but also of cities themselves as cities themselves represent centers of economic activity.Urban economics is rooted in the location theories of von Thünen that began the process of spatial economic analysis
Social science: these are the aspect of academic discipline that deals the society and the relationship between then.they include; sociology, anthropology, geography, economics, religion etc. but I want to use anthropology as a case study.
Anthropology is the holistic "science of man", a science of the totality of human existence. The discipline deals with the integration of different aspects of the social sciences, humanities, and human biology.. The natural sciences seek to derive general laws through reproducible and verifiable experiments. The humanities generally study local traditions, through their history, literature, music, and arts, with an emphasis on understanding particular individuals, events, or eras. The social sciences have generally attempted to develop scientific methods to understand social phenomena in a generalizable way, though usually with methods distinct from those of the natural sciences.
The anthropological social sciences often develop nuanced descriptions rather than the general laws derived in physics or chemistry, or they may explain individual cases through more general principles, as in many fields of psychology. Anthropology (like some fields of history) does not easily fit into one of these categories, and different branches of anthropology draw on one or more of these domain
Urban economics is broadly the economic study of urban areas; as such, it involves using the tools of economics to analyze urban issues such as crime, education, public transit, housing, and local government finance. More narrowly, it is a branch of microeconomicsthat studies urban spatial structure and the location of households and firms (Quigley 2008).
Much urban economic analysis relies on a particular model of urban spatial structure, the monocentric city model pioneered in the 1960s by William Alonso, Richard Muth, and Edwin Mills. While most other forms of neoclassical economics do not account for spatial relationships between individuals and organizations, urban economics focuses on these spatial relationships to understand the economic motivations underlying the formation, functioning, and development of cities.
Since its formulation in 1964, Alonso's monocentric city model of a disc-shaped Central Business District (CBD) and surrounding residential region has served as a starting point for urban economic analysis. Monocentricity has weakened over time because of changes in technology, particularly, faster and cheaper transportation (which makes it possible for commuters to live farther from their jobs in the CBD) and communications (which allow back-office operations to move out of the CBD).
Additionally, recent research has sought to explain the polycentricity described in Joel Garreau's Edge City. Several explanations for polycentric expansion have been proposed and summarized in models that account for factors such as utility gains from lower average land rents and increasing (or constant returns) due to economies of agglomeration (Strange 2008).
Again, we had slow but steady economic growth in our country because of political stability. But in many other countries, there was no steady growth because of political instability. If there is one government today and another government tomorrow, there will not be economic development in that country.

Psychology deals with the study of human behaviour and the psychological outcomes. Question; How does urban and regional economics borrow from every other social sciences ?
Regional economics which spams and touches every other factors and disciplines are closely and interchangeable related in the following social sciences.
In geography, they borrow the geographical unit known as GIS (geographical information system) with its greater access to spatial statistical measures for the better account and distribution of urbanization in space and in areas.
Sociologically, that is, in sociology, urban and regional economics borrows their cultural, sociological antecedents that may or for the effective implementation of the pattern and space change in an area
Political science supplies and guides our understanding of the processes and structure of governance which shepherds urban changes over time.

The term is also sometimes used to refer specifically to the field of sociology, the original 'science of society', established in the 19th century. A more detailed list of sub-disciplines within the social sciences can be found at Outline of social science.
Positivist social scientists use methods resembling those of the natural sciences as tools for understanding society, and so define science in its stricter modern sense. Interpretivist social scientists, by contrast, may use social critique or symbolic interpretation rather than constructing empirically falsifiable theories, and thus treat science in its broader sense. In modern academic practice, researchers are often eclectic, using multiple methodologies (for instance, by combining the quantitative and qualitative researchs). The term social research has also acquired a degree of autonomy as practitioners from various disciplines share in its aims and methods.
Political economy is a term used for studying production and trade, and their relations with law, custom, and government, as well as with the distribution of national income and wealth. Political economy originated in moral philosophy.

Politics and economics are more visibly connected, thanks to the inseparable link between the science of state and the health of the economy. Much urban economics analysis relies on a particular model of urban spatial structure.
HOUSING AND PUBLIC POLICY: Housing and public policy relate to urban economics as housing is a unique type of commodity. Because housing is immobile, when a household chooses a dwelling, it is also choosing a location. Urban economist analyzes the location choice of households in conjunction with the market effects of housing policies.
GOVERNMENT EXPENDITURE AND TAXES: The final theme of local government expenditures and taxes relates to urban economics as it analyzes the efficiency of the fragmented local governments presiding in metropolitan areas
TRANSPORTATION AND ECONOMICS: Urban transportation is a theme of urban economics because it affects land-use patterns as transportation affects the relative accessibility of different sites. Issues that tie urban transportation to urban economics include the deficit that most transit authorities have and efficiency question about proposed transportation developments such as light-rail.
ECONOMIC POLICY: Economic policy is often implemented at the urban level thus economic policy is often tied to urban policy.
LAND USE: Looking at land use within metropolitan areas, the urban economist seeks to analyze the spatial organization of activities within cities.

ARE THERE SIGNIFICANT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN URBAN ECONOMICS AND OTHER SOCIAL SCIENCES.
Urban economics is simply the study of urban areas. It is broadly a field of study in which we use analytical tools of economics to explain the spatial and economic organization of cities and metropolitan areas and how to deal with their special problem. It also involves using the tools of economics to analyse urban issues such as crime ,education, public transit, housing and local government finances. More narrowly, it is a branch of micro economics that studies urban spatial structure and the location of household and firm [QUIGLEY 2008]. Sociology for example as one of the social sciences endeavors to study the social life as a whole but the social life is so complex that it is impossible to isolate social problems from the whole range of human experiences without the knowledge or the application of economics which helps to allocate scarce resources to meet the needs of the societyboth in rural and urban centres. Psychology on the other hand studies only man as a behaving individual and with the knowledge of urban economics helps to rationalize and utilize scarce resources to maximize profit and minimize cost. History which is the record of the life of men and historical development of the society and such development could not have occurred without the use of analytical tools of economics to analyze the organization of cities and metropolitan areas in the society. Political science which is the a branch of social science that deals with the principles of organization and government of human society is related to urban economics because it guides in the understanding of the process and structure of government that necessities urban changes overtime .Lastly geography as the study that deals with spatial distribution of phenomenon helps the urban economist to account for the distributionof changes in space and in urban areas through the geographical information syetems(G.I.S),spartal statistical measurement

7. Sociology
Definitions of each of them
1. Anthropology: The study of humans, past and present, that draws and builds upon knowledge from the social science and biological sciences well as the humanities and the natural sciences.
2. Economics: Analyzes the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. It aims to explain how economics work and how economic agents interact.
3. Geography: The study of the lands, feature, inhabitants and phenomena of Earth.
4. History: Are the discovery, collection, Organization and presentation of information about past events. It is also the period of time after writing was invented.
5. Political Science: is a social science discipline concerned with the study of the state government and politics.
6. Psychology: is the systematic study of human behavior or mental processes
7. Sociology: Studies Society using various methods to understand human social activity, from the micro land of individual agency used interaction of the micro land of systems & social structure
Development Economics: Branch of economics which deals with economic aspects of the development process in low-income countries
Looking at all the points highlighted you can see that both urban economics and other social sciences are not far from each other, this is because the society at large are characterized by human inhabitation that involves around the space of the earth. Economic policy is often implemented at the urban level thus economic policy is often tied to urban policy. Urban problems and public policy tie into urban economics as the theme relates urban problems, such as poverty or crime, to economics by seeking to answer questions with economic guidance. For example, does the tendency for the poor to live close to one another make those even pourers affect urban growth?
Because urban economics is concerned with asking questions about the nature and workings of the economy of a city, models and techniques developed within the field are primarily designed to analyze phenomena that are confined within the limits of a single city.
The term is also sometimes used to refer specifically to the field of sociology, the original 'science of society', established in the 19th century. A more detailed list of sub-disciplines within the social sciences can be found at Outline of social science.
Environmental Studies, anthropology, area studies, business studies, civics, communication studies, criminology, demography, development studies, economics, education, geography, history, industrial relations, information science, law, library science, linguistics, media studies, political science, psychology, public administration, sociology, social work, sustainable development are those things that gives significant relationship.

Psychology studies mind of an individual and sociology studies the society which is made up of man and geography as well studies the description of the earth. From all these definitions of the social science discipline, we notice that all depends on each other for the improvement of man in his environment. While urban economics as a social science focus on the tools to analyze urban issues such as crime, education, public transit, housing and local government finance. Hence it is a branch of microeconomics that studies urban spatial structure and the location of household and firms.

REG.NO: 2016/SD/36103 Discuss the linkages and inter linkages between urban economics either social sciences
linkages and inter linkages encourage investment in subsequent stage of production, and background linkage effects in earlier stage of production. development should aim at discovering projects with the largest total linkage.
According to Hirschman, the industry with the highest combined linkage score is the iron and steel. But he says further that "the industrial development clearly cannot be started everywhere with iron and steel industry just because the maximize linkages" the reason for this statement is that there is lack of interdependence and linkages in underdeveloped countries the primary production activities mostly leading to exports have little development effects can the economy in adding either to employment or to gross national product in an underdeveloped country.

Differences between Social Sciences and Urban Economics
Social sciences is a group of academic disciplines that examine society and how people interact and develop as a culture while urban economics is a branch of microeconomics that studies urban spatial structure and the location of households and firms.
Social science is a field of study like Economics, political science, history, law and geography while urban economics is divided into six related themes: market forces in the development of cities, land use within cities, urban transportation, urban problems and public policy, housing and public policy, and local government expenditures and taxes.
Social science as an academic field of study developed out of the Age of Enlightenment as individuals began to take a more disciplined approach to quantifying their observations of society while urban economics focuses on these spatial relationships to understand the economic motivations underlying the formation, functioning, and development of cities
Social science is, in its broadest sense, the study of society and the manner in which people behave and influence the world around us while urban economics focuses on the allocation of resources across space in relation to urban areas
Social science tells us about the world beyond our immediate experience, and can help explain how our own society works – from the causes of unemployment or what helps economic growth, to how and why people vote, or what makes people happy.
Social science provides vital information for governments and policymakers, local authorities, non-governmental organizations and others while urban economics involves using the tools of economics to analyze urban issues such as crime, education, public transit, housing, and local government finance.
