The Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria on Saturday at the National
Merit Award House in Maitama, Abuja, conferred the award of Professional
Fellowship Doctorate (PFD) on veteran actor Kenneth Okonkwo.
The
selection committee of the Institute, which carried a detailed appraisal of
Kenneth Okonkwo stated that “this is coming as special recognition to appreciate
your contribution and commitment to Economic growth and development of this
country Nigeria…
of motivation which is worthy of recognition. Your attribute outstand you as an
achiever of remarkable intelligence, dignity and commitment to the service of
humanity”.
Recall that Kenneth Okonkwo was lead actor of the first major
movie in Nigeria; Living in Bondage and this started what is now known today as
Nollywood, which is today employing millions.
