CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Introduction
African economies are currently implementing two Agendas aimed at achieving inclusive and sustainable development on the continent. The first is the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (also known as the 2030 Agenda), while the second is the African Union’s Agenda 2063. However, various progress reports, such as the 2024 Africa Sustainable Development Report of the United Nations Development Programme, indicate that Africa is not yet on track towards achieving these Agendas. Hence, this Conference aims at understanding the critical issues militating against the attainment of inclusive and sustainable development in Africa and offering policy recommendations to facilitate the attainment of these Agendas. Academics, researchers, civil society organizations, practitioners and postgraduate students are now invited to submit policy-relevant abstracts for inclusion in any of the sub-themes of the Conference.
Conference Sub-themes:
In line with the theme of the conference, the sub-themes include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Agriculture, food security and sustainable development
- Climate change, the environment and sustainable development
- Economic diversification, inclusive growth and sustainable development
- Human capital development, youth development, migration and sustainable development
- Energy, infrastructure, SME development, industrial development, and sustainable development
- Finance, financial sector development, public expenditure management and sustainable development
- Gender, inequality, poverty, social inclusion and sustainable development
- Governance institutions, law enforcement, insecurity, political instability and sustainable development
- Science, technology, and sustainable development
- Tourism, sports, hospitality management, and sustainable development

Format of the Conference
The conference is designed to be completely virtual via the Zoom platform. This means that participants can join the conference from their respective locations. There will be an opening ceremony that will feature keynote paper, lead paper presentations and discussions. This will be followed by concurrent paper presentation sessions.
Abstract Submission Guideline
- Authors are invited to submit abstracts on any of the sub-themes listed above.
- Abstracts should be in MS Word and not be more than 250 words in length, in Times New Roman, font 12, and 1.5 line spacing. Abstracts should be unstructured and should include the following: title of paper, names of authors and affiliations (email addresses and phone numbers of all authors/coauthors are mandatory), background/motivation for the study, research objectives, method of study/analysis, data sources and period covered, expected results, and JEL classification codes. Please, note that any submission that does not adhere STRICTLY to these submission guidelines will not be considered.

Publication of full papers in peer reviewed journal
At the end of the Conference, authors are encouraged to submit their full papers for publication in the Journal of Economics and Allied Research (JEAR).
