President Muhammadu Buhari attended a Banquet in Abakaliki on Tuesday night organised by the Ebonyi state government as part of the activities of the president’s visit to South East.

As the banquet lasted, Abakaliki residents showered encomiums on President Buhari for the stride made in the area of agricultural.
They said that the President’s aggressive agricultural policy was capable of enhancing the nation’s economy.
Mr Chima Iduma, Chairman, Afikpo North local council, said that the political significance of the President’s visit to the state is symbolic.
“President’s visit is a symbolic one irrespective of his party; he will also commission new projects,’’ Iduma said.
Mr Emmanuel Emerugini, a resident and an industrialist, expressed appreciation to the President for his agricultural initiative which, he said, has been yielding results at the grassroots.
Emerugini, who is also owner of Ultimate Golden Star Bakery, stated that his visit would address negative notions and perceptions by citizens of been marginalised.
“The President is for all; his initiative on agriculture has gone grassroots, aggressively and we hope for more,” Emerugini said.
Mr Sylvester Okeh, Ufuegbu, Community Leader, commended the efforts of Buhari through which agricultural sector has been revitalised in the country.
“Our president has been able to combat hunger to the barest minimum in the society within his period of stay in office.
“I belive that with his zeal toward the sector in the nearest future, famine will become a thing of the past,’’ Okeh said.
Mr Sunday Uguru and Anthony Onwuegbulam, civil servants, appreciated the President’s efforts as many teaming youths had been engaged through N-Power project and in other areas.
They appealed that more efforts should be added in the area of infrastructure, empowerment and establishment of industries to engage more persons to reduce crime in the society.
“We need more life-touching projects to boost standard of living in the society, reduce crime and other illegal activities in our country,” they said.
The News Agency of Nigeria observed that youths, men and women were seen in their great numbers chanting solidarity songs with high spirit to welcome the President.
