Time: 10:30am till 12:30pm WAT.

Venue: Via Zoom (meeting link to be provided to those who are eligible and register.

Fee: FREE

 Who can attend: the Zoom workshop is open only to academics/teaching staff, post-docs and PHD candidates ONLY. 

Why attend: For the current day researcher, research visibility matters. While publishing in peer-reviewed journals is vital, it is also useful and good practice to consider other ways of communicating research and reaching wider audiences and gain exposure. 

The University of Nigeria Nsukka  has partnered with The Conversation Africa (TC-Africa) to conduct this 2-hour virtual science communication workshop. 

The workshop is designed to be an interactive session to help researchers refine how they communicate their research findings to non-academic audiences, be they the general public or policy makers for impact. Importantly, how to pitch and publish successfully on The Conversation Africa platform and indeed any other public media platforms.

About The Conversation: The Conversation Africa (TC-Africa) is a not-for-profit media initiative serving universities and the research sector in Africa. TC-Africa’s mission is to mainstream the voices of scientists in the media and to support science engagement and science communication activities of scientists in Africa. They work with academics and scientists, who they assist to write, edit and publish evidence/research-based analytical articles (+/- 800 words) on various societal issues and articles about their research findings as well. The objective being to make the knowledge produced in the academy accessible, easy to understand and freely available for the public to be informed and use.
